DIY: Chandelier

Hey Beauties!

I wanted to share my recent project with you. I have been wanting to do this for a while, and waiting for the products to be shipped, didn't help, either. But, I finally made it! Yey! I am talking about my own "mini" chandelier ;)

Since I do get a bit obsessed with some things, I really wanted to make my own chandelier. Partly, because my three-in-one light is so boring. I wanted to make it a bit nicer. I am planning on renovating my room - but maybe next year. Until then, it's the little things that count :).

The idea came when I found cute heart shaped beads or pendants, what ever you wanna call it, in the shop (Tedi-for Slovenian readers :) ). They had 10 pieces of those hearts for 1€. I seized the opportunity and bought some. That's when I decided to use it as a part of my chandelier.

I also ordered three different shapes of glass beads. First are faceted round beads (8 mm), next are faceted bicone beads (8mm) and some of the smaller faceted round beads (4 mm). I got total of 580 beads - which I did not use all, for 7 €.

I also bought this plastic transparent string on which I tied the beads.

This project cost me around 11€.

The first thing I did, was put the beads on the string. I created a certain patter of longer and shorter strings. I tied them on wire clothes hanger, to keep the pattern in a place. My boyfriend made a wire circle and we taped it together with a regular tape. After that I glued some of black wrapping paper around it. Just to get rid of the wire look.

After that I started to put on strings of beads. I just tied them with a regular knot, three times. Firstly I tied strings on the opposite sides. I also had a certain measure of my wire circle so I knew exactly how far apart should each string be, that it came out evenly. I attached it to my light system - that obviously depends on each light.

And that is my new chandelier on my old and boring ceiling light. I really like it. It's not the most professional one, but I think it looks just fine. And I didn't need to spend a lot of money for it.

What do you think about the chandelier? Do you, or would you own it?
