Liebster Award

Hey Beauties!

I have been nominated for the Liebster Blog Award by the lovely Miss Louise. Check out her blog and give her some support for coming into the blog sphere ;). I hope she will find it as lovely as I did, when I started. I was so happy to be nominated. I love the fact that there is a support system for us fairly new bloggers and that we can get some recognition and of course some new connections. After all, we all want to create what we love and share it with others. That's the beauty in this blog sphere, in my opinion.

Ok, so let's get on with this. I will copy the rules which are:

1. You must link the blogger who nominated you
2. You must answer 10 questions given to you by your nominee
3. You must choose 10 bloggers (who all have less than 20 followers) to be nominated for the award
4. You must then come up with 10 questions you would like your nominees to answer.
5. Once you have done this, you must go to their blogs and let them know you have nominated them for this award.

Here are the answers to the questions:)

What is the one beauty or fashion item that makes you feel confident?

This is actually a hard question. To pick just one is difficult. I guess I would have to say concealer. Because it conceals my imperfections. That is the one thing that I would absolutely need to feel a bit more confident. If I don't think of essentials I would have to say mascara, because a little does a lot. Opens up the eyes and makes them noticeable. After all the eyes are the windows to the soul ;).

What was the beauty/fashion disaster you will NEVER forget?

This one is very easy. I haven't actually told this to anyone except my boyfriend-who was with me-and my friend. I actually ripped out my lashes with the lash curler. Yup-true! I actually ripped out the whole middle line of lashes. The only lashes left where in both corners of the eyes and a few very little ones in the middle. You can not imagine in what a shock I was and how depressed I got. You can't even imagine how weird it is being without the lashes on one eye. How it happened? I was in a rush and while I was clenching the eye lash curler it slipped out of my hands (it didn't have the scissor-like holder) and I ripped out my lashes. It was bad. But I learned how to use single eye lashes like a pro. So I guess it was good for something and nobody noticed :).

In regards to makeup, what is your favorite decade (40's, 50's,etc)?

I guess my favorite would be the 50's, because it was all about bright lipsticks, thin liners and filled arched brows. I think this was a classic look, that has been up grated many times in the history and is still a very classic look that would suit anyone, with the right colors and application :).

What other hobbies do you have that are not related to blogging, fashion, or beauty?

I was, and in a way, still am, a hip hop dancer/hip hop dance teacher. I trained in hip hop for 9 years and I have been teaching hip hop for about 4 years. I still teach a little bit, but not as much, since I am studying full time. Dance is one of my greatest passions along make up. It is my outlet and I can't live without the music. When I am happy, sad or angry I like to dance and express that through it.

Do you feel confident without makeup?

I would lie if I would said yes. Of course I feel the most confident with make up. And by that I don't mean a full face, just some little corrections to my face. This can be a little bit of concealer, curling my lashes and putting on lip balm. I do wear make up where ever I go, it just depends on how much I wear in which situations. At home I never wear make up.

What is a trend that you are glad that it is out of style?

I would have to say blue eye shadow all over the lid, red lipstick and red blush. This combination just reminds me of everything that was wrong with the women in the past, who didn't know how to alter their faces properly. I just seem to really hate this combination. I am sure, you know which look I meant :).

What is your favorite thing about yourself?

I guess that would probably be my eyes. My grandma (who sadly past away) always said that I had black eyes like a crow (the black bird ;) ). She said it with such enthusiasm and admiration, that I seemed to picked up and started to love my very dark brown eyes :).

Do you remember the first beauty guru/blog you read/watched?

I can only remember the endless times spend in front of YouTube, when I found Lisa Eldridge. She is still to this day, one of my most admirable beauty gurus. She know what she does, explains it in a very soothing way, is very informative, yet approachable looking and doesn't try to hide the face with make up, but tries to do big changes with a minimal use of make up. If you don't know who she is, I highly recommend watching her videos. I learned a lot from her.

What genre of music do you like?

I think this comes as no surprise-hip hop. I know this is not supposed to be a real genre. I love rap music, r'n'b, commercial pop and some soul. I also listen to some rock songs. I like more then just one genre, but only certain artist in certain genres.

How do you feel about society's role on the definition of attractiveness?

I have studied what's attractive in my study program  This was actually a really big part of my media communication studies this year. I have learned that the media have the biggest role to play in the what's-attractive-in-the-society mind set. They are the ones who filled our heads, invade us in every step of our lives and try to make us think what they want us to think. Of course this all goes hand in hand with cosmetic companies, fashion industry and other beauty related business. The media makes us feel bad, by publishing highly retouched and not-at-all normal photos of what is supposed to be natural beauty, then we get to feel like there is something missing in us, and that we are not beautiful enough and not satisfied with us, we go get buy a lot of make up products in order to look like a photo of a woman, who is supposed to be beautiful-of course it never shows how many hours of make up and photo shop and trainers and I-don't-know-what went into it. After learning all that you may think, why do I even bother? Well because I know the power of make up. I know how confident, different it can make you feel. I don't think we should bend, in order to fit the make up industry, but we should use their products to our advantage, to make the best versions of us, we can be. But what I think is the most attractive is a woman, who is confident in who she is and feels confident and beautiful inside and outside. Make up is just one tool to help you feel more confident, play around and be creative. As far as what's attractive now, I only have one opinion and that is, I don't like too skinny women. In my opinion, this has a lot of times exceeded the "normal" and "attractive".

These were really interesting questions. I loved answering them and I think they are great for learning more about other bloggers.

The rules on how to and how many blogs you should chose are different. I guess I will nominate the ones that haven't yet been nominated and don't have a huge number of subscribers.

The blogs I chose are:

Smekah Make Up
The ugly truth or sweet lies?
...All things girly...
Made up by Makeup
Mookie On The Bench

Here are my questions for those bloggers:

1. Where do you get your inspiration for your blog posts?
2. What or who has been the most influential part in you starting your own blog?
3. What or who makes you the most confident?
4. What is currently your favorite beauty or fashion item?
5. What has been the most embarrassing thing that ever happened to you?
6. What is your biggest goal you want to achieve in the near future (not related to your blog)?
7. What is the thing in your life that makes you the happiest?
8. What is your favorite movie genre and name your favorite movie?
9. Which beauty or fashion guru do you like the most?
10. If you had one week to do what ever or go where ever you wanted, on someone else's expenses, what would you do or where would you go?
